Hyundai Congratulates Junior Boks after Historic U20 Rugby Championship Triumph

Hyundai Automotive South Africa has congratulated the Junior Springboks after the national Under-20 side claimed a historic first U20 Rugby Championship title in Gqeberha on Saturday.

The Junior Boks secured the crown after a gripping 29-29 draw against New Zealand at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, finishing the tournament unbeaten and on top of the standings with 13 log points.  The South Africans scored more than 130 points across the tournament, following dominant wins over Argentina and Australia before holding off a spirited New Zealand comeback in the final round.

As the official vehicle partner of the Junior Springboks, Hyundai Automotive South Africa supported the team’s logistical and transport requirements throughout the tournament in the Eastern Cape, helping ensure the squad and management travelled efficiently between trainings, matches and operational commitments.

Stanley Anderson, CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa said the company was proud to be associated with a team that displayed dedication and rugby excellence throughout the competition.

“This is a fantastic achievement for the Junior Springboks and for South African rugby.  To complete the tournament unbeaten and lift the trophy against world-class opposition reflects the incredible character and talent within this squad.”

Anderson said Hyundai’s partnership with SA Rugby aligns with the company’s commitment to investing in youth development and national pride.

“At Hyundai Automotive South Africa, we believe in supporting future champions and enabling journeys of success.  We are proud to have played a role in helping keep the team moving throughout the tournament and even prouder to see these young players inspire the nation with their performances.”

The title is regarded as a significant boost for South African rugby ahead of future international competitions and highlights the strength of the country’s emerging rugby talent pipeline.
