From 16 – 23 May 2026, Tecán Tequila brings the first-ever Paloma Week in Cape
Town. Returning for the fourth time globally, this yearly celebration of the Paloma has evolved into an international lifestyle moment not to be missed. From its origins in a local bar in Amsterdam, to its newest home in Cape Town, South Africans can expect surprising events, local collaborations, exclusive PR drops and of course, a lot of tequila.
More Than a Cocktail
On 22 May, the world celebrates World Paloma Day. However, as is customary for the brand,
Tecán believes the drink deserves much more than a single day of recognition. The Paloma – a refreshing combination of two simple hero ingredients: tequila and grapefruit – has increasingly become one of the most talked about and enjoyed cocktails globally. A cocktail which has become not only central to the Tecán brand, but also represents a shift in how people are drinking tequila, from quick shots and hurried moments to more slower, lifestyle-led experiences that are rooted in flavour and quality.
Cape Town Activations
Following a massively successful launch in February, Cape Town plays a new and exciting role in this year’s Paloma Week celebrations as Tecán’s newest partner location on the African continent. Through a series of local partnerships, exciting events and community-led activations, Tecán is introducing its lifestyle-led approach to the city’s creative and wellness spaces, tapping into audiences not conventionally associated with tequila.
Throughout the week, Tecán will partner with award-winning local beauty brand Gloei, as well as powerhouse pilates studio The Movement Lab, alongside cannot-miss events at Blondie and Nish Nush. With these partnerships, Tecán is creating moments that extend beyond nightlife, and integrating the Paloma into Cape Town lifestyle culture.
In addition to these partnerships, Capetonians can also experience Paloma Week at a variety of on-trade restaurant and bar partners. From Happy Hour specials to 2-for-1, there’s a Paloma waiting for everyone at one of the following: Judd’s Local, Lunacy, One Park, Hugo Social Club, Kleinskys, Ëlgr, The Commons, Nish Nush, The Electric, Black Brick, House of Machines, Blondie, The Athletic & Social Club, Cause | Effect and The Blue Room.
Taking the Movement Global
As Paloma Week expands beyond the Netherlands for the very first time, 2026 marks a major step for the Tecán brand, further cementing its growing international presence and authority in the tequila space globally.
